Description
Offered for sale is a vintage (ca. 1960's) hand woven and hand beaded basket from Bali, Indonesia. These Indonesian baskets are called "canang sari" and are used to make temple offerings - usually of flowers and rice. This particular basket is unusual in that the bead work includes the word "Borneo" as well as other Malay words. The basket is hand crafted from palm fronds, glass beads, metal beads, cloth, and it still has the original glass mirror on the bottom. It is in good vintage condition with wear and imperfections consistent with age and years of use - surface wear, and worn on the bottom with some missing beads. The basket measures 8 3/4" wide, and 3 3/4" high.
